Water to My Fire is a musical journey that flows through the many rivers of India’s folk imagination.
Across regions, languages, and landscapes, water has always been more than an element. From monsoon songs that rise from parched earth, to river chants that carry devotion downstream, to lullabies shaped by tides and oars, India’s folk traditions have always returned to water as both metaphor and lifeline.
In this performance, a lone woman sets out on a sonic pilgrimage through these traditions, gathering songs of rain, river, sea, well, and storm along the way. Each melody becomes a waypoint. Each rhythm, a terrain.
What begins as a journey through geography slowly transforms into a journey inward, where water becomes the quiet counterforce to fire: softening, shaping, sustaining, and sometimes, resisting.
This is not merely a concert.
It is an immersion.
A return to the currents that carry us all.
