Hi Beeta, I'm not sure how true this is. However, over the weekend, one of your finalists in this year's Playwright Competition, who is my friend, was very angry, stating that since you listed her name as a finalist almost a month ago, you have not officially notified her: no call, no SMS, or email. You just posted her name and left it at that. If someone didn't draw her attention to the post on Facebook, she wouldn't even know that she had been shortlisted. She now thinks you just used her and others to “catch cruise,” and are not willing to announce a winner.
As I said before, I don't know how true, and I don't believe in a one-sided story, but if her account is accurate, then too bad. It is wrong and disrespectful to publish a writer's name for close to a month without officially notifying them about their status in a competition you advertised and encouraged eligible members of the public to apply to.
I have been following Beeta and I know you are better than this. Please, for the sake of your reputation, bring this competition to a satisfactory closure. Only INEC conducts inconclusive elections. Do not join them.
It is better not to carry out a competition at all than to do so and then abandon everything halfway. Doing so is to injure your own reputation.
It seems you have been doing well in previous editions, but this single twist is more than enough to disfigure everything.
Reach out to the writers, officially inform them that they've been shortlisted, and let them know when you will announce the winner. You promised from the beginning that there would be a winner. Let it remain so.
Thank you, Sir.
