There Is Nothing God Cannot Do— 51-Year-Old Ooni Of Ife Opens Up On Years Of Pain, Pressure Before Having Children
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has opened up about the emotional pain, criticism and pressure he faced over delays in having children after ascending the throne.
Speaking while receiving visitors who came to celebrate the birth of twin princes by his wife, Queen Mariam, the monarch said the experience was deeply challenging and that he was openly mocked by some people during the period.
“I thank God today. There is nothing God cannot do,” the Ooni said while expressing gratitude over the birth of the twins.
The traditional ruler explained that he never imagined he would marry many wives while growing up, noting that the realities and demands attached to the throne changed the direction of his personal life.
According to him, his journey after becoming the Ooni came with several unexpected challenges and mysteries, especially the pressure to quickly settle into royal marital responsibilities.
He also revealed that there were attempts by prominent traditional rulers and influential figures to persuade his former wife to relocate to Ile-Ife, but the move never happened.
