President Trump has arrived in Beijing for his meeting with Xi Jinping on Thursday morning.
Trump said at the meeting in the Great Hall of the People: “It’s an honour to be with you. It’s an honour to be your friend, and the relationship between China and the USA is going to be better than ever before.”
“We should be partners, not rivals. We should help each other succeed and prosper together and find the right way for major countries to get along well with each other in the new era,” Xi said.
Later this evening, Trump is set to take part in a state banquet held in his honour.
