We talk about our member houses doing extraordinary things… well, this is example 1.0.
Carlton Towers is a 1,000-year-old Yorkshire estate in Yorkshire, which is still a lived in family home to this day. Despite its grand Gothic façade, there’s a warmth to the place the moment you walk through the doors.
Last week, I (Isabella from the HX team) joined a three-day retreat there, and traded in screen time for yoga, mindfulness, estate walks, exceptional locally sourced food, and the kind of stillness that’s become nigh-on-impossible to find amongst modern life.
Coming out the other side, I can confirm something that we have always believed at HeritageXplore: that historic places really are some of the most powerful spaces to slow down. The centuries-old interiors and ancient parkland made modern life feel very far away for a little while.
Carlton Towers will be running two more retreats this year - in June and September - so if a switch off is on your radar, this might be your sign.
They’ve also kindly offered HeritageXplore Club members a special rate - so for those who are interested, please do reach out - and keep an eye on future collections too. There’s much more to come. 🏰
