Assalāmu alaykum warahmatulLāhi wabarakātuH.
The VIRTUES of The First Ten Days of DHUL-HIJJAH
Today is the 28th day of Dhul-Qa'dah, meaning Dhul-Hijjah will start in a few days by Allāh's Grace.
Dhul-Hijjah is one of the four Sacred Months in Islām.
Its days are blessed as Fasting is encouraged (especially on the 9th day, that is the day of 'Arafah as it expiates sins of two years) and its first nights are so powerful, maa shāh Allāh, that He, SubhānaHu waTa'ālā swears by it in the Qur'ān:
"And [by] ten nights" Q88:2
The Prophet (PBUH) taught us that meritorious acts are beloved (highly accepted) therein in the sight of Allāh and recommended that we seek nearness to Him (Azza wa Jalla) by Remembrance, Supplications, etc.
Ibn 'Abbās (RTA) reported that the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allāh than these ten days. The people asked, not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh? He said, not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing."
(Sahih Al-Bukhāriy, Vol. 2, Book 15, Hadith 86 [926]).
This is telling us that: we should increase the Declaration of the oneness of Allāh (Tahleel), the Exaltation of Allāh (Takbeer), and the praise of Allāh (Tahmeed).
This is to say the following supplications:
Lā Ilāha Illa Allāh (There is no Deity worthy of worship except Allāh).
Allāhu Akbar (Allāh is the greatest)
AlhamdulilLāh (All praise is due to Allāh)
May Allāh make it easy and accept our acts of 'Ibādah. Aameen.
