Listen, #HPMKT ain’t for the weak 😅
It’s basically speed sourcing at 20k steps a day.
But you don’t get the goods without the grind. So, if you want to make it to that final showroom, check out some of my top tips for surviving #HighPointMarket:
✔️ Comfortable shoes matter more than fashionable ones. If you got a pair that’s both, even better. But this ain’t New York Fashion Week y’all. Here, your eye for design is only as good as your ability to get you to the next building.
✔️ Outlets and time are limited, so bring a portable charger. And prepare for spotty service or save on battery life by downloading/screenshotting anything important ahead of time. Trust.
✔️ You can’t see everything in one day, so don’t even try. But if you’re only going for a day or two, aim for a weekday to avoid the bigger crowds, decide ahead of time who you’re seeing, and map it out. Be sure to get a good mix of showrooms and leave enough time in between for walking.
✔️ Take photos and notes of every showroom you visit because by day two, everything starts to blur together. We were shown a new app for tracking showrooms and cataloging products during this past market, but most of the places we visited weren’t using it yet. If something like that ever catches on, it’ll be a real game-changer (and all the more reason to bring a portable charger).
